Our Bone Health Program was born from the frustration we see in our patients living with osteopenia/osteoporosis. Patients told us they often feel a lack of options when they discuss their disease with their healthcare providers. Patients want to know how to slow the process of bone loss and improve bone health. Madrona PT will give you the straight answers you need to thrive.
Madrona PT Can Help
Bone remodels when it is sufficiently and properly stressed. Stress can be weight bearing activities, weight training exercises, and posture changes. Your Madrona PT will:
Teach you movements and strengthening activities to build bone/slow bone loss.
Teach movements to protect your spine and improve posture.
Reduce your fall risk by challenging your balance.
Give strategies to adjust your environment and improve your lifestyle to protect your bone health.
How It Works
Madrona’s Bone Health Program provides a bone health evaluation by a specifically trained physical therapist. Your posture, gait, strength, and balance will be assessed to determine your baseline function and fitness. Education for movement precautions will be provided, and we’re here to answer any questions you may have at that time.
Based on the physical therapist’s recommendation, you are then placed in either a small exercise group, or 1:1 visits in physical therapy to work on the basics. If you have a recent DEXA score please bring that with you to the first visit!
Bone Health and Strengthening classes are taught weekly by a licensed PT and typically have 5-9 students. That’s the perfect size to offer individual modifications and allow more time for getting to know your classmates.
